True or False: 10 points

If the statement is false, correct it.

  • Villain's motive to be a villain is not necessarily the same as their origin story.
  • Term 'villain' usually defines a character who represents the forces which clash with the supporting and static characters.
  • Once A Human is the rarest origin story and exclusive to literal monsters.
  • Your villain name should always rhyme.
  • The Tyrant is the overlooked son or daughter that burns with resentment.

Fill-in-the-blank: 15 points

  • The villain stands in _____ relation to the _____, emotional, _____ or financial progress of the _____ character.
  • Your _____ must underpin all your _____.
  • A rather _____ scenario that tends to bring out the most _____ for a villain, it revolves around how a villain comes to being as product of _____ or abuse, _____ and physical alike.

Media Origins: 15 points

Pick a piece of media (movie, TV show, book, comic, video game, etc.) where a significant portion of the movie is dedicated to a villain's origin. Write a review of 150 words or more. Include a short synopsis, description of the origin and how the villain's origin impacted the story or a conflict. Please take note that you must choose a piece of media that is HOL, or at least teen, appropriate.

Motivational Villains: 10 points

As you might have gleaned from the lesson, the motivations presented there are nearly not all of the possible ones. Take another villain motivation that was not mentioned in the lesson (nor is it its example) and present it in 100 words or more. Cite all sources that you use.

Studies: 10 points

You are a budding villain studying about your role models. A great thunderstorm scooped your reading material and trashed it around the alley as you were making your way home. Solve the puzzle below to get your materials back in order. Open image in a new tab for a bigger version.

Just Examples: 10 points

In the lesson you learned about several villain origin stories. Pick four of them and find villains whose origin story fits them (do not use the examples in the lesson). You can pick your villains from any piece of media, but please only use one fandom per villain. For each villain, write at least 25 words on why you think their origin story fits the one you chose.

Art: 15 points

Through the use of any medium, illustrate something that was mention in the lesson. It does not have to be particularly good (I know I am not a very talented artist), but it needs to be shown that an effort was put into your submission.

The Archetypes: 5-20 points

At the end of the lesson, I presented four villain archetypes to you. Your job is to find a villain in a piece of media that falls into one of these archetypes. Name them, the media from where he or she comes and why you think the villain fits this archetype. Your villain can be from any form of media (movie, TV show, book, comic, video game, etc.), as long as they are clearly defined as a villain and not an anti-hero, for example. You have to write 50 words or more on one villain to get full 5 points and you can do this four times for 20 points.
